Porthmelgan

Porthmelgan is a remote beach on St David's Head, exposing lots of sand at low tide and a large pebble foreshore. The sides of the beach are backed by rocky cliffs, sheltering the beach fairly well, and a small waterfall. A large stream cuts across the beach. The beach looks out to Ramsay island.

Access to the beach is along a short 10 minute section of the coast path from Whitesands Bay , where there is a charged car park, toilets and a cafe (seasonal).

Porthmelgan is a good alternative to Whitesands bay for more mobile families who want to escape the crowd.
