Solva

Solva is a pretty harbour village in a long narrow inlet, traditionally a Viking hideaway. At low tide sand is exposed and it's possible to walk down the harbour to the sea - plenty of rock pools and sand. There are limekilns on the south bank, a large river, plenty of cafes, pubs and shops (particularly galleries and craft shops) and a picnic area by the river.

The beach is worth visiting at any state of tide depending whether you like your boats afloat or on the beach. For the energetic there's a walk south up to the top of the headland, worth it for the views, and then steps down to the next beach (Gwadn - mostly pebbles) and river valley.

A car park is next to the beach, which charges but gets full at peak times. Slipway down to the harbour.
