Whitesands Bay
Whitesands bay is a spectacular sandy beach close to St David's head, situated next to a large charged car park and cafe. The beach is mostly sand, but you will find more rocky parts by venturing further north.
The beach is very accessible and is fully lifeguarded in the summer, where designated swimming and surfing areas are marked.
The breaking waves of an Atlantic swell make the beach ideal for surfers. There are also the smaller but quieter beaches of Porth Lleudg and Porthmelgan just ten minutes north up the coast path, where rocks, caves and shelter can be found for those who want to avoid the crowded main beach. The headland itself is worth a walk to, where the remains of an old fort and village can be seen.
